Originally designed as a press proofer, the Iris launced the world of fine art digital printmaking. It remains a unique printer, capable of rendering extraordinarily rich and vibrant colors. The four nozzles each spray one million droplets of ink per second onto media that is attached to a spinning drum. The ink droplets are approximately the size of red blood cells. Noted for its microscopic accuracy, the printer places anywhere from 0-31 droplets of ink per color.

The Iris Equipoise CMYK inkset is an archival dye-based ink that can print on both coated an uncoated papers. Excellent paper choices include Somerset Velvet, Hahnemuhle German Etching and Photo Rag, Arches, as well as numerous other fine art papers.

All Iris projects begin with a set of proofs. Standard proof size is 8x10 and is included in the final price. I will make larger proofs upon request for an additional fee.

I encourage the artist to be present in the studio for at least part of the time during the Iris printing process. This facilitates color corrections, paper choices, and addressing concerns as they arise.
